Anti-Human Trafficking

Every year, thousands of people are entrapped in circumstances of human trafficking. Human trafficking involves “the recruitment, transportation, harbouring and/or exercising control, direction, or influence over the movements of a person in order to exploit that person, typically through sexual exploitation or forced labour.” Indigenous women and girls are at a higher risk of being targeted for human trafficking.

Our services are provided in the areas of:

  • Individual support and in-depth safety planning
  • Developing action plans
  • Providing information on a variety of traditional healing methods
  • Help with accessing other community resources and services that are in place to assist individuals who have been exploited by trafficking
  • Help with accessing basic necessities like personal care items and/or clothing
  • Providing education and awareness on human trafficking
  • Wi Na Wenjikaazo Anti-Human Trafficking Information Sessions

These sessions are designed to provide education and awareness about human trafficking (types of, signs of, prevention, how it operates, etc). The sessions are recurring and open to everyone. Those who wish to attend must register in advance.
